May 11
On this day in 2013 an ammonia leak in the International Space Station's cooling system caused significant problems. The astronauts completed the emergency spacewalk an hour ahead of schedule and while the leak posed no immediate threat to the crew, managers had wanted to resolve the problem quickly.
Ammonia Leak In Outer Space
Ammonia Leak
Does not refer to someone I know
But rather a concerning chemical spill
That once occurred
In the cooling system
Of the International Space Station.
Astronnauts
Masquerading as plumbers
Undertook an emergency space walk
-More like an designated floating exercise
To plug the leak
Swiss army knives at the ready, no doubt…
Could have been worse
A blocked toilet perhaps.
Task completed
A whole hour ahead of schedule
The crew were happily ensconced
Inside
On board
In time for lunch, presumably.
Not sure what they charged for a space station call
Problem averted
Remote float resumed.
